“Mind first, legs second”
“Mind first, legs second” is the motto of our dear Franco Morgani, an athlete in heart and soul, deeply loved and respected in the Quincinetto community both for his character and his profound passion for sports.
Every adventure of his always began in Quincinetto and knew no bounds: from the local peaks to more distant routes, from hikes along alpine trails to bike rides around the world.
His passing in May 2023 left a profound and widely felt void.
Today, his memory lives on through the Franco Morgani Memorial, a running event held alongside the Vertical Scalaro that draws athletes, friends, and fellow villagers every year, transforming the race into a moment of remembrance, affection, and community.
Our race winds through nature, but we don’t want to leave any traces behind. That’s why we’ve chosen not to use paint on the rocks (the markings present are those from the historic GTA trail) or on the trails: we believe the beauty of our trails deserves to remain intact, without any permanent marks.
Every year, we mark the route using ribbons and temporary signage, which we remove completely in the days following the race.
We run with respect for the environment, leaving behind only our footprints.
